Today was a rest day from the battlefields and we set off for Bruges and Gent for the day. Still hot with temps around 32C but at least we could get out of the shade!

We climbed the belfry at Bruges, 366 steps to the top. It was a bit disconcerting as there was only the one staircase for those going up and down! The view from the top was great!

Then it was time for a nice relaxing canal ride

After lunch we headed for Gent and a 2 hour walking tour of the city
