Today I had the opportunity to revisit My third cousin Hugh Carrigan's grave at Vlahmertinghe. Hugh was killed in late 1917 shortly after winning a Military Cross. Hugh's grave is down a laneways on the edge of the village and overlooks paddocks of cattle and sheep rather fitting for a country boy!

We also visited Lijssenthoek Cemetery which had some Chinese graves. From the dates of death they were probably victims of the Spanish flu.

This afternoon we had some free time in Ypres and we visited the Flanders Field Museum which was excellent! For an extra 2 Euros we climbed the 231 steps of the belfry and got fantastic views of Ypres and surrounding areas.

We went to the Last Post ceremony again this evening as the Combined RSL pipes and drums band fron Sydney was playing.
